Atacama Desert, Chile—

Fran organized a small group that went to Chile a week ahead of the schedule. Fran, Barbara, and Christel headed to Atacama Desert in northern Chile, the driest place on earth. Some parts of this remarkable place haven't seen rain for over 400 years.

The salt flats at the Los Flamingos Reserve stretch for more than 100 kilometers and they are the largest in the country. All kinds of exotic bird life flock to the area as it is one of only a handful of water holes in the entire desert.
